Understand movement and sense of time (What is sense of time? A character should move without delay and slowly, it should move in its sense of time and play its unique role in the script) for characters use pre-animated blocks and elaborated simple character models and this is called animatic. Animatic is also used for previewing complex visual effects in scenes. The department responsible for rendering the storyboard is called Previsualization, or animatics for short.
