Model sheets

Model sheets

Preproduction

Model sheets are a group of drawings that show all kinds of facial expressions of the character, what it can do, and what poses it can take in the frame. These model sheets are created specifically so that the main characters can be copied in the other shots by other animators, meaning that the character remains “herself” in each frame.

When the development of the characters is complete, all the work is sent to the modelers, who create computer images of the characters in three-dimensional space. In the case of a two-dimensional animated film, the designers and artists create the final color drawings of the characters, which are then approved in production.
