Storyboarding
An example of a storyboard for an article about creating cartoons
The storyboard helps complete the development of the story in the cartoon and is an essential part of the animation process. The storyboard consists of hand-drawn drawings in comic book form that help visualize the animation and fine-tune the idea. Scenes are described in detail, with notes both above and below the images to describe the action, such as camera movement.
But the storyboard serves not only as a visual understanding of the story, but also as a blueprint to look at during production to remember what happens next, what the next shot will look like.
